PUPUSAS
Many of the dishes are made with maize (corn). El Salvador's most known dish is the pupusas. The pupusa originated in El Salvador, but it is also popular in Honduras. It is thick handmade corn flour or rice flour tortilla stuffed with cheese, chicharrón (cooked pork meat ground to a paste consistency), refried beans, or other fillings.
Tamales
One of El Salvador's most famous dishes is their different types of tamales which are usually wrapped in banana leaves. Every Latin country has their own twist on the tamale. Different people have different methods of making tamales that are related to where they may be from.
